Pump Action was appointed to deliver an energy-efficient upgrade to the pumping system serving The Pyramids, a high-quality mixed-use commercial facility offering flexible business accommodation and extensive on-site amenities.
The Annex is a self-contained industrial unit extending to 3,767 sq ft, designed to support a wide range of uses including office space, storage, R&D and data centre applications. The facility benefits from modern infrastructure including three-phase power, air conditioning and a dedicated plant room.
The client was operating with outdated belt-driven pumps that were inefficient, costly to maintain and consuming excessive energy. To improve system performance and reduce ongoing operational costs, the client sought to replace the existing equipment with modern, energy-efficient alternatives.
Our engineering team conducted a detailed site survey to assess the existing installation and determine the required system duty.
We proposed a solution using close-coupled end suction centrifugal pumps combined with variable speed drive technology to improve efficiency and control.
The upgrade included the installation of KSB end suction centrifugal pumps and Danfoss variable speed drives, along with modifications to the existing pipework. New cable containment, electrical cabling and starter isolators were also installed to ensure a safe and compliant system. The system was designed to operate at lower speeds, reducing energy consumption and mechanical wear.
The completed installation delivered a significant reduction in energy consumption and improved overall system performance. The new system operates more efficiently, with reduced motor power requirements and lower servicing demands compared to the previous belt-driven setup.
